The Endler Concert Series hosts the second instalment of The Chopin Project - pianist José Dias’ exploration of the complete works of the Polish “poet of the piano”, Frédéric Chopin.
This time, the focus is on the complete chamber music works, a limited but remarkable output where, beyond an early Piano Trio, it is the cello that features prominently as Chopin’s second favourite instrument. From early works in virtuoso style to Chopin’s last published composition, the masterful Cello Sonata, they owe their existence greatly to his friendship with cellists, particularly Auguste Franchomme.
José Dias is joined in this unique programme by outstanding musical couple, Suzanne and Peter Martens on violin and cello respectively, promising music-making of the absolute highest quality.
The first 100 Maties students receive free entry, after which student tickets will cost R50.
